Lessons & pricing
Every lesson is tailored to the learner’s current experience level and goals. Some learners need to build confidence from the ground up, while others are preparing for an upcoming assessment or returning to driving after time away from the road. Lessons focus on practical skills, safe decision-making and developing the habits needed for everyday driving conditions across Perth. We come to you.
Dual-control vehicle, calm instruction and focused driving skills.
Three one-hour lessons for car or motorcycle learners.
Lesson content varies depending on the learner, but common areas include vehicle control, observation, lane positioning, roundabouts, intersections, parking, merging, freeway driving and hazard awareness. As skills improve, lessons become more focused on consistency, judgement and preparing for independent driving. With a license completion rate of 90% and an average of 3-5 lessons before passing, Jim knows how to adapt to everyone.
The best sequence depends on the learner’s experience, but the structure below keeps progress practical and measurable.
Strengthen core skills in real Perth traffic.
Learning to drive is not just about passing a test, but a practical driving assessment is still an important milestone. Jim’s lessons focus on the skills assessors look for, including observation, speed management, positioning, decision-making and safe vehicle control.
As learners approach assessment day, lessons become more focused on consistency and correcting the small mistakes that commonly cost points during testing.
Many learners come to Jim after previous driving experience, while others complete most of their training with him from the beginning. The goal is always the same: helping learners become safe, capable and assessment-ready drivers.
Assessment day can be stressful, particularly for first-time learners. Jim offers test day support using the same training vehicle used during lessons, helping learners arrive familiar and prepared.
Test day support includes:
• Pickup before the assessment
• A preparation lesson immediately before the test
• Use of the training vehicle for the assessment
• Waiting during the assessment
• Drop-off afterwards
This service gives learners the opportunity to warm up, settle nerves and complete the assessment in a vehicle they already know.
If you’re converting an overseas driver’s licence in Western Australia, professional lessons can help you understand local road rules, assessment requirements and driving expectations.
Lessons focus on the practical differences many overseas drivers encounter, including:
• Roundabouts and lane positioning
• Speed management and school zones
• Observation and mirror use
• Give-way rules and intersections
• Practical driving assessment preparation
Whether you’ve been driving for years or have recently arrived in Australia, lessons can help you become comfortable driving on Perth roads and prepare for the WA licensing process.
Structured lessons with a calmer pace and clear communication.
Jim works with learners who benefit from more structure, repetition and predictable lesson progression. This may include learners with ADHD, ADD, autism spectrum conditions, Asperger’s, anxiety, processing differences and other learning needs.
Lessons can be adapted through step-by-step instruction, practical routines, repetition of key skills and reduced pressure while building confidence behind the wheel.
Every learner is different, so lesson structure and communication style can be adjusted to suit individual needs.
Whether you’re learning from scratch, preparing for your assessment, or building confidence on the road, Jim can help you take the next step.
